  • v6 3.73 swap

So i want 3.73 gears, My only problem is correcting the computer to read that i have 3.73 gears. SLP stopped making there little 100 dollars fix. I found Tech Edge Mini SRC on ZZperformance.com(http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/pro...e_mini_src.htm) but i dont know if just does the speedo fix and not add more miles than it should. Also will it lower my speed limiter?

the speedometer is what your mileage goes off of..
fix the speedo, it will read the correct miles.

I have the tech edge src and it works fine.. my mileage is correct too.

without any correction, your speed limiter will be 98mph with 3.73's, despite a reading of 118mph. From what I recall, those quick little "fix its" for a hundred bucks only illude the speedometer, not the PCM. I don't know if they make a hypertech for the 99's.

Here, I'ma move this to drivetrain, you might get some better answers there.

nope no hypertech for the 99. What if i got a 2000 pcm its it too much work to change them out? because then i could get a hpp3.

I would suggest that you could go for some tuning from possibly TSP. For at the most $300 you can get your speedo fixed, along with a few other performance things taken care of along with other future modifications for the cost of shipping. Look around and if you can afford it get some tuning done.

slp recalibrators go for 100 used... that's how i fixed mine. contrary to what people some say, the install is a piece of cake.

you CANNOT get your pcm reflashed for a 3.73 gear swap.

I think i am going to go with the hptuners because i can also use it for my turbo, can i use my desktop pc or do i need a laptop? do i just plug it up to my computer and start tweaking away or is there more to it.

Also i called SLP and they told me that they stoped making recalibrators.

You can use any computer as long as the wire can reach your OBDII port. The way it works is you read your car's computer, play with that file, then rewrite it back to the VCM. The cool thing is you can save the original file, along with various tunes and write them as needed. You can choose any tire/gear combination and it will not affect your ABS.

Not too many for the V6 because there aren't as many parameters that you can adjust as there are for the V8s. However, your purchase includes a 6-month free upgrade period and you'll be able to get the new version which is coming soon. They have great product support and customer service. There is also a forum which you can join and discuss tuning with other people who have the program. I don't regret buying this program.
