  • V6 rear end strength

About how much power/torque can a V6 rear withstand?

Its the same rear the V8s come with, so you should be fine unless u have some crazy plans. I am not sure about a horspower/torque number, but the two fastest cars on this board still have the stock rear.

for the V8's it's not power that kills them. It;s traction. you start getting under a 1.8 60 foot. start to watch out.

The rears are the same, but the 2-piece V6 shaft won't take as much abuse as a V8 1-piece. You can easily swap shafts for a 1-piece though.

Every 3.8 I've seen had a 2-piece. 'course those have all been mid-late 90's cars. Did GM start using a 1-piece in the later V6?

No, wrong. The Y87 package never had anything to do with a 1-piece DS.

Instead of guessing, maybe you all should read the Technical Database. Read 1998 and 1999.
