Recently, my alternator died. When I was driving and losing power, while coming out of a stop sign, when I stepped on the gas it reved really high and after a few seconds it gained speed. I think it might be stuck in 3rd gear. When I drop it down into first gear and manual shift, it seems to work better. This happens only when I put the car in drive. Reverse works just fine. Can this be related to the power being drained? I changed the alternator but I can't help but wonder if my computer was messed up somehow. If anyone has any suggestions that can save a college student big bucks for a new tranny please help!
