I have a 97 Rs with 3.42 and LSD with 70 K miles on it. I was wonder if the LSD could be worn out. How can i check for this? My friend told me to put my back wheels on a stand and spin one and see if the other spins. Will taht work?
If it is worn out is there anything i can do to get it to work again.
\"DRive it like you sTole it\"<br />RIP<br />Black 97 Camaro RS A4 (Y87)<br />3.42 LSD, Flowmaster exhaust(3in),<br />Slp Cold air intake Stage3 weight reduction (removed spare and jack)<br />\"Now a question of ettiquite, do I give you the *** <br />or the crotch?\" <br />~Tyler~ (FC)<br />!!!!NEW Ride Silver!!!! 03 WRX \"stock\"
spinning the tires to check won't work on a torsen. if your 97 came stock w/ lsd then you could have a eaton lsd and it has clutches in it that can wear out. if you do have an eaton then you can rebuild it our get new one or put in a zexel torsen for a c-note. if you have the torsen then it should last longer than 70k unless it has taken alot of abuse and power. torsens are awesome and the best for the buck.
Eatons don't come stock. Auburns do and they are not rebuildable. If you have an Auburn it is most likely worn out by now. If you have a Torsen it should be fine. Open up the girdle and look at it. If you see yellow springs it's an Auburn, otherwise it's a Torsen.
