Ive had my car back 3 days after the tranny build. I wasnt sure exaclty what to be expecting, having never driven a high stalled car before. Its a full tranny rebuild with hardened shell, upgraded valves and clutches, kevlar bands, billet servos, transgo kit, etc. etc. and a 3000 stall TC.

So far, I have noticed I get about 1/3 less mpg.
It is MUCH easier to break the tires loose, and then they continue to spin rather than regaining traction like they did before. Shifts are very hard, and very fast and does seem to accelerate better than before, especial from a roll.

HOWEVER!! Even with individual things seeming like an improvement, the overall feeling is that the car seems more sluggish.... I guess underpowered is the correct assessment. The tranny feels so friggin strong, but I guess its like the engine doesnt hold up its end.

I know I havent added much in the way of HP to the car yet. But is this simialar to what others with built trannies are experiencing?

I'm not sure about the sluggish feeling, but with the MAJOR MPG loss I think something is going on.

It sounds like to me the power band you are used to may start lower than your converter stalls at?

I'm guessing the more mods you do the better they will work together, although I still don't think I got much less gas mileage at all with my built tranny/stall may be something to keep an eye on.

So you think I may be stalled too high? The 3000stall was recommended by Andre at Edge, and I assumed it was safe being that I havent done anything that should move my peak Tq very far from the 3700ish mark.

I'll have to keep track of the next tank of gas. Thinking back I had almost 50miles on the tank when I delivered it. I picked up the car and it had 11miles on the trip, so it reset and the shop owner told me he drove it a little after getting everything put back together. So maybe Im not see quite as much of a loss as I first thought.

I have to get to a track and see what Im at. I wish I had a 1/4 et as a base line. Its just the SOTP feeling seems like its lacking, or at least no gain. Its probably just me expecting too much out of 2g's.....

It probably feels sluggish because the high stall reduces low-end efficiency. This is what causes less mpg also. The motor has to rev up more before the converter starts transferring the power to the drivetrain.
