Do I really need the lock-up feature of a torque converter?? Is that really necessary?? Because I think thats the reason why mine grinds. So I think I might just call precision industries and just ask for a non-lockup torque converter as a replacement. What do you guys think?

if i'm not mistaken, i think the lock-up feature allows your torque converter to let you ride at highway speeds at a reasonable rpm. if you don't have a lock up i think you'll be running at whatever your stall is and possibly that + whatever your rpms are usually at that speed. make any sense ?2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28<br />323/335

So would it be bad that I'm trying to avoid my converter from locking up while I'm driving?? When its about to lockup I'm just gasing it more to avoid that grinding noise.Whisper Lid, SLP CAI, KN Filter, 3\" HiFlo Carsound Cat, full 3\" mandrel-bent piping, Flowmaster 80s, Casper O2 Sim, BM Tranny Cooler, Vigilante 3300 Torque Converter, Corvette Servo, 3.42 gears, SLP take-off LSD, Manual Fan Switch, & 160 Thermostat.

The 4L60E will die without a lockup converter, it must not be run like that. If you want to run without a lockup go get a 700R4.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

Could the grinding be that I changed my 3.42 gears and I still have the same computer for that?
