I dealer told me that they think my rear end bearings are bad. he said something about the bearings where the driveshaft and the rear end connect called the yolk or something like that. does anyone know how much it would cost to be fixed?

just depends on what kind of shape everything is in back there.. sounds to me like he is talking about the bearings on the carrier.. would depend if changing the bearings would affect the way the gears mesh together, or backlash..-Brad

There is a bearing on the pinion and another right next to the pinion seal in the yoke. I'm betting it's the pinion seal one they are talking about. How would they know it's that particular bearing and not the one on the pinion itself? Did they analize it with some of their expensive tools? I'm just wondering, I personally have no way of checking the bearing without removing it.
What's your symptoms? The labor will be the same as any gear change. Dealer will charge $400 labor, speed shop will charge about $250 labor.
