• Trans Cooler

I think i am going to finally buy an aftermarket trans cooler. I mean for about 50 bucks and a free afternoon along with some basic hand tools on can be bought and installed. At least that is what i was told. I know the kits are inexpensive, but are they easy to hook up?
I know the obvious advantages are lower fluid temps which will extend the life of the tranny. Are there any disadvantages to a trans cooler such as over cooling the fluid like in the winter months?

the only disadvantage i've heard of is when one of the lines goes out and starts spraying fluid on your engine, which as you probably know can start a fire pretty damn quick. I've had mine for about 30K with no trouble. Just be absoltely sure where you want it before you put it in. I had to relocate mine when I put in the SLP CAI, so I moved it from the front of the radiator to in between the a/c condenser and the radiator. there's not a whole lotta room there, and i cut my hands all to pieces in the process.

Do the install right, and buy a quality part, and you don't need to worry about that whole thing

Don't the autos already have a trans cooler as part of the radiator? (I have a manual) Radiators have different p/n for manual and auto.

I'm considering the possiblity of using a auto radiator to use the tranny cooler as a power steering cooler.

yes they do but they are not the very effician or good from what I"m told. Plus with an aftermarket tranny cooler you can get a radiator that is bigger and better for the car. I plan on putting in a tranny cool faily soon plus upgrading my whole radiator with a bigger more efficant one.
