  • aluminum ds question

i did a search, but couldn't find a direct answer. i'm looking at getting a 1LE shaft. other than being lighter, how does aluminum compare to the 1 pc steel? the only thing i'm worried about is durability and strength. i don't want to install one of these and then it f*cks up a year or two later.

or would i be better off to spend the extra cash and get the rksport aluminum shaft with the spicer u-joints?

if you buy a used one, you always have to wonder about the condition of the U-joints. As far as overall durability and strength, you'll be hard pressed to break it.

The aluminum will be stronger than the steel. If you buy used, make sure it is balanced and inspect the U-joints.

I don't trust people enough to buy something like that used.

??? So spend 4x's as much for a new one? At the very worst you take it to a shop and have new U-joints pressed in and It'll be good as new and still save over half. Theres not a whole lot that can go wrong with it. except for all out breaking it.

the only moving parts are the U-joints, that is all that will wear out, so replace the U-joints.
