ok, im stupid, its definately 3 for 4.10 gears

i understand the GEARS need to be SPACED correctly cause they will whine alot or you will completely strip them.

is there anyway still that i can install gears myself?
im a power-do-it-yourselfer that likes to figure things out.

You CAN do it yourself but it's not something you should do if you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing. I "helped" my friend who is a mechanic install them on my car and I'm glad I didn't try it myself. Anyway, 3.23 and up you need a 3 series carrier and 3.08 and down you need a 2 series.

I've been looking to replace my Differential because it might be broke so I've been looking at how hard it would be. heres a site on 10 bolt axle rebuild.

From looking at this, I would say this is something you can do on the driveway on a nice sunday.
Heres another good site for differential/gears.

Installing a new differential is pretty easy, it's a gear swap that gets tricky. ;)

You want to install the differential yourself but have the shop install the gears, right?

If so, that's kind of pointless. The shop has to remove the differential to install new gears, so substituting a new differential for the current one shouldn't cost a penny more if they're already doing a gear swap.
