Can't push out the caps on the U-joints. I've gone so far as to drill out the nylon injected pins.

Is it just rusted tight, or is there something I'm missing?

Are you trying to press them out with a vise or hammer them out? The injected nylon forms a complete ring around the cap and has to be forced pretty hard to break.

get 1 socket that will fit inside the driveshaft yoke, then lay that side on the driveway and hammer the other side, but don't hit the u joint, should pop out after a few really good swings. My tool of choice is a 6lb short sledge. Have fun

you need to heat the rim to melt the plastic that hold the stock joints in. then they can be pressed or hammered out

exactly what he said. theres a nylon injected ring around them. you also wont be able to get them back in when you're done removing them.

why do you want to take them off?

But if you really want to get them off. get a blowtorch, and put it directly on the joint cap, and after about a minute or less the plastic will start to push itself out, keep going until nothing else comes out, it may take like 3 or 4 minutes.

but again, its useless, you cant use them when your done.

do be carefull tho. Pressure can biuld up in a case like this and can explode the cap in your face. just make sure that your out of the line of fire as you heat it. Take your time. It takes getting used to replacing u joints so that you don;t mess it up. It's easy to get one of teh neddle bearings to disloge and not let the cap rotate after you force it on like that
