We are getting this kit from VALEO and there are EXEDY plate, VALEO disc, and OEM T/O bearing with
    pilot and tool inside.

    </font>
how long did you last clutch last? </font>
this car, first one 7k, when slave cylinder took a dump, and current one has 35k on it, started not working at the track ~4k ago.

    My problem is, I know I kill clutches, people tell me to upgrade to specs, centerforce, etc... Thing is I have seen people replacing those clutches in less then 30k miles. My thoughts are if my clutch lasts 20k, heck I'm happy, if all I have to do is pay ~$150 to do my clutch every 20k I am for it. Now if I have to replace my clutch every 20k, and I am paying $400ish for the clutch, I am gonna be a little pissed

    My goal with this car is not to be a super dooper top dog, but to have some fun with it. I'll never be a top dog, I don't have the budget or time to do it I figure, Seppo Kattain pulled 13.6@102 with 3.73s, drag tires, and Rich D went low 13s.

    I just wear out clutches, just my driving and such, my thoughts are maybe I don't need a new clutch till my current one cannot handle the power.

      NORMALLY...

      you get what you pay for. the only way i've ever heard of exedy is through the import scene.

      i don't think i would pay $350 to have a $150 clutch installed, nor would i spend the day installing a $150 clutch.

          I agree you get what you pay for in some respects. Is a spec 3 better then OEM? yep, but guess what Eagle F1s are better then Kuhmo 712s, z28s are better then v6s, etc. etc... I am not aiming for the best, I am aiming for what will support my needs, and one of them is CHEAP.

          I wouldn't buy a $150 and put it in my car.

          But I might be willing to get a OEM clutch same as GM and SLP uses for $150, and put it in my car. All I did was post about it on 2 boards, just to get some info. I haven't commited on it yet.

            well...

            i am thinking that a lot of companies paint OEM replacements, put a performance gauge in the pressure plate (weight savings of course), and call it a performance clutch...

            ...but at the same time, a gm replacement costs as much as a spec or CFDF.

            all i'm saying is that i wouldn't do it. haha, if you want to be the guinea pig though :D maybe exedy is the clutch bargain of the century

              Pathogen switched from a Centerforce DF to a Spec Stage 3. She said sh eloves it and is much better than the Centerforce. I have a Centerforce Dual friction, and I am not happy with its grabbing ability, though it has over 40K on it and over 2 years old. It stills grabs okay, just not as hard as I like it, and I like it to bite really hard when I dump it.
              When was the last time you saw a V-6 Mustang sit and smoke both 285mm Tires?
