Ok so I switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic atf and ever since, I have had nothing but problems. My car is an auto and now the shifts feel a lot different. Before the synthetic atf,if I were to be going at a constant rpm the auto transmission would switch to the higher gear and drop the rpms I guess to save gas and for all out better driving.(correct me if im wrong) Now I can stay at a steady rpm in one gear and it will not shift to the next gear until I give it more gas. Also my car doesn't downshift as easily and sometimes I will be in 3rd gear and only be going 40 mph. Would a switch back to regular dexron 3 solve my problem? Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I think 40k but I'm not one hundred percent sure because that's how many miles were on it when I bought it.Garrett

2001 WS9 W68 Blackbird A4
Custom Turbo...Chrome ZO6...WS9 Hood...
Custom Leather Interior...
much much more...see website

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/637795/

I've put in partial (pan drop)fills with Mobil1 ATF & never had a problem. So from 30+ years of experience with trans re-fills,valve body replacements & trans R&R's,never had a problem from this type of proceedure. Its rubbish for the most part if anyone tells you a total flush is absolutely necessary, with the exception of logic that the fluid overheated & was burned,or contaminated.
Ask any competant tech or people @ Mobil & I'm sure they would agree that Mobil1 ATF is fully compatible with reg. Dexron 3.Did you make sure you put in enough fluid? This ,I found through experience can cause a lot of problems.Re-check the fluid level after the car has been run for 10 mi. or so.I recently did my pan & filter change,& the trans apeared to be full after my '98 Camaro warmed up.After drving the car for 6-8 mi. it needed 1-1/2 quarts, after a re-check on the dip stick.
If you have more problems you might want to try a bottle of Lubeguard additive to adress shift problems you stated.I know there'll be someone here will make a comment against additives ,but this one is endorsed by GM , Ford, Saab, tons of trans re-builders,.etc.I need not to say anymore about their line of products.geocor

thanks for the great info geocor...I switched back to regular dexron 3 yesterday and everything has gotten better but i think you may be right about checking he level and it being too low. I agree with the pan drop procedure. Been doing it for a few years now, no problems.
I run the Wal-mart Super Tech Dexron III in both camaro's with no problems. I change it every 10-15k though.
I buy cheap and change often. Thats been working for me.-1999 Camaro Coupe 3800 Series II V6 A4 - SOLD
-1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP coupe
