I was with the SLP caravan and we were in stop and go traffic on the NJ Parkway for almost 45 min due to an accident. I have an automatic and my car was consantly shifing from 1st to 2nd and back to 1st and then to 2nd for a good 45 min. Well when we got out of traffic I hit the gas and the car's RPMs fell to about 500 and it felt like the car was about to die. I laid off the gas and hit the gas again and the same thing happened. It had no power whatsoever. I thought we were going to be stranded. I gently hit the gas and it would rev up to about 1500 and then lose power again.
I finaly got the car up to 3rd gear and took the first exit to let it rest.
Could this have been due to the tranny temp getting so damn hot that the coverter was not working? I guess we dont have a tranny cooler. The car's temp never got above 195.
Any ideas??
Funny thing is that the next day I ran a new best?!!?
