  • where is the speedometer cable on the 5-speed on a 99??

is it the cable on the side of the tranny?? i am removing the tranny and not sure how to remove the cable on the side of it...not sure if it a speedo cable or a clutching assembly...need a little help on this...

The speedo cable is just a wire inside of wire loom, and it has an electrical connector that goes into the tranny. If you can't figure out how to remove it, then it isn't the speedo wire.
All gone :(<br />Best ET ever: 14.3 (I think)<br />----------------------------<br />Check out my site for exhaust clips, burnouts, and pictures, and the supercharger throttle body mod.<br /><a href=\"http://www.geocities.com/net_addict/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Click on the Firebird</a>

hum...is it possible to put a switch on it?
I was thinking to press the switch at at top speed to remove governor... then you don't know the current speed but you're faster !!!

You can use a DPDT switch on it. Like you said, your speedo won't work.

So your switch is between the computer and the speedo. Try putting it between the VSS and the computer. I think you will be successful with eliminating the govenor going that route.
