  • LSD and Gears !!!!!!!!

I am sure this has been asked before but I would like to hear it from you guys again. I have finally decided to buy LSD and Gears (3.42) to my car. I would like to know which brand I should choose and where I can buy them. I don't think ThunderRacing sells LSD's. Thanks for your help.

p.s. Is there something i should keep in mind before purchasing the LSD and Gears since I am planing on buying a torque converter in a few months?

My final setting would be CAI, LSD, Gears, Torque converter, and Exhaust.

For LSD get the SLP take-off..only $99 from their website. http://www.slponline.com/

Gears..everyone will say one brand is better than the next. They're all pretty much the same. I would recommend Strange,,but that's just me. Just search around for the cheapest place you can find them. I would not recommend buying used gears.

Something to think about adding to your future set up would be a Shift Kit. That will cost around $100 plus installation.

I bought the Motive Performance gears since they are made by GM. They patterned in perfect and don't make a single noise like some people have problems with on here.
Don't forget to get an install kit to go along with it, I bought the Ratech kit, they make excellent stuff.

Used gears aren't really a problem as long as they are patterened correctly. I bought a set of used Motive 4.10's for $100 from a guy on TGO. As long as you can see a close up pic of them to make sure they look good, your shouldn't have any issues.

After seeing your replies, I have decided to go with Motive Performance Gears which I will buy at ThunderRacing..... I still haven't decide about the LSD. Would it be safe to buy a SLP take-off? and in the case I decide to buy a new LSD, which one should I buy?.... Thanks for your help.

p.s. Which Ratech gear installation kit should I buy? Basic, Complete, or Deluxe?

I think I bought the complete kit... I can't remember, all I remember was that it was 90 or 100 bucks and EVERYTHING was used from the install kit! I even had to go buy another seal on top of that... but my car is a 95 so it might have had more stuff eaten up ya know?

actually mative/strange/us gear are all teh same company. they are actually manufactured by strange under contract for the general. i have heard a rumor that the jegster gears are also jsut rebadges but i have haven't seen any proof.
jegs and summit are nice places to buy gears cause they sell them in a kit with all teh stuff you need to install them(bearins, seals, fluids....). it will save you a few bucks and the hassle of hopign you got everything you needed.
