Are you talking about just moving the ring gear from one carrier to another or actually changing gear ratio's?

Okay, Jordan's guide is pretty good then.

I also did my own guide on my site.

Just so iam clear. to do only a lsd w/3.42 gears you only have to open the diffy cover and repace the shaft and pinion. right ?

No, when you change gear ratio's the size and number of teeth on the pinion and ring gears are different.

                      3.73 is 41/11 (41 ring teeth, 11 pinion)
                      3.42 is 41/12
                      3.23 is 42/13
                      3.08 is 40/13
                      etc.

Because of the different sizes when you change gears you have to be concerned with setting pinion depth and backlash. Leave this to the experts.

Changing the carrier and transferring the existing ring gear does not require the precise setup of gears.
