Earlier this week I posted that I got new 3.73s and LSD. I know all about the break in time, but I have a problem that is killing me!!!

When I turn the wheel to go up my driveway (not a very steep driveway) I notice a sound and a bumping sensation in the rear. The sound is kinda like a "thump thump" (I really cant think of a creative word to use) and I feel vibrations in the car .

I have maybe a little over 120 miles on the new gears and I must confess, I did go over 60mph on the highway. I did not yet peal out or down shift to 2nd to chirp the tires. I was just wanting to know if this is normal or maybe it will work its self out?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

One more thing, I only get this when going up my driveway or doing a u-turn on the road starting in first gear. Besides that, I dont get the dreaded noise.
    thanks

You should jack the car up in the back and put it on jackstands from the frame. Try to move the tires around to see if you can create the same noise. That, or have someone drive your car making a u-turn as you are either outside listening to it, or on the passenger side with your head hanging out looking under the car as it's moving. Sounds stupid, but it may help you pinpoint the problem.

Not a bad idea. I really fear that it is the gears that might be slightly damaged. But if I could find the problem coming from something else, that would not be bad.

        Thanks for the ideas

Sounds like the limited slip isn't slipping like it's supposed to on sharp turns. The thumping and vibrations is most likely being caused by the inside wheel trying to spin because it's turning as fast as the outside wheel.

Did you install an Auburn or Zexel LSD and was the slip additive put in the rear?

If it was binding of the gears from too little backlash then it would do it going in a straight line. The fact it only happens in sharp turns points to the LSD.

Ok, I think you hit the nail on the head. I did install the zexel torsen lsd and your right, I did not add the additive to the rear. So what would be the next step? drain the fluid and then replenish juice along with the additive?

No sense wasting the entire 2 quarts. Just loosen the cover and let enough out to make room for the additive.
