    borg warner T5.

will "fit" in your car so to speak, but you have a different bellhousing and it possibly won't be as good as the one you have now, as most of the T5s used around that model year were non-world class.

also, i'm not sure on this one but i think the V8 cars had a fine spline input shaft.

unless you have an auto and are willing to do all the work involved in that swap... why bother switching?

        input: 26
        output: TH350/27

        # of splines is the same across all f-body T5s, but other things are different across V8 and V6 as well as older and newer T5s, mostly bolt pattern and speedo pickup.

sorry im entirely new to manual transmissions. somone told me i could just get a new input shaft that would go in my tranny. also my tranny uses a pivoting arm to actuate the clutch, but i hear that all 95+ v6 use a hydraulic throwout bearing. is this true. if so, can i just put one of those on instead of the throwout bearing and arm system. what are the clutch performance diffrences between the two.

the newer T5s do in fact use a hydraulic throwout bearing.

you cannot just replace the TOB, and the pivot arm is sort of an archaic/inferior system.

i've never driven a car with an arm style system, so i can't really tell you the difference between the mechanical and hydraulic systems.

Old thread, but I've found it 2-3 times doing a search for some other stuff.

              # of splines is *not* the same across all f-body T5's.

There's a slew of threads on thirdgen.org about this (maybe even here, I haven't been searching long). The # splines might be the same from 3.8 to v8, but not from a 60* v6 (14) to v8.

Here's a thread about it just from a 2 sec search:
