How many miles are on your car? What makes you think that it's "about to go"?

Has the fluids been changed on a regular basis? Is it throwing any codes?

not throwing any codes but one of my friends said to check the filter so i am gonna do that this weekend and see what happens. if not i would suspect that its a bad tranny.

How long have you had the car for? It sounds like you have never changed the fluid in the trans.

i havent changed it yet but yes i did check the level. could it be that the filter is clogged up, one of my friends said that could be the problem. also how often are you suppose to change the fluid.

Standards for this differ between sources but I would recommend at least once a year. If you beat on the car, then once every 10,000 miles. If the filter gets 'clogged', that's usually not a good sign since tranny fluid doesn't break down like oil. Most of the crud that is found in tranny fluid is from hard parts inside of the trans. Checking the level is good but that doesn't cover you if you don't change the fluid.

every time i check the oil. i just got the whole system flushed today and it is working much better now, basically like new. he said there were some metal filings in it but nothing out of the ordinary. it cost me 120 to get it all done and i can live with that since it fixed everything. thanks for the help. i think ill change my fluid more often now.

Yes, but how do you check the tranny fluid? With the car running? With the car off? With the car running in gear? With the car running in park? Tranny hot? Tranny cold? Putting too much tranny fluid in is worse than not having enough fluid.
