Does anyone have a hurst or a B&M short shifter, and does anyone know where I can find one for sale? I am striking out so far finding one for my car. HELP!!! Also, does anyone know about how much I am looking at spending on one or the other? Thanks!
Chris

Ok, I just found the B&M ripper on jegs.com , but it is $165 . I know I have seen it for less. Help! And which do you guys like better? The B&M or the Hurst? I have grown up hearing Hurst (it was in the old man's race car), so I hate to jump ship, but it seems like lots of you are going that way now... Thanks!

The hurst and b&m will always run you $150+ for new (prolly $160 on the bm). Expect to pay $20 to $40 more for a pro 5.0, afaik ... But I'd love to find a used one too. Keep in mind that you can use one from a 3rd gen t5 as well, and maybe (i'm callin' b&m) a mustang t5

The B&M runs $165 and is the CHEAPEST of all the shifters and they have the shortest throw. The handle is about the same as stock. The Hurst runs about $190 and the same with the Pro 5.0 but with those 2 you can buy the lou's short stick.

got in on a good GP
plan on buying a Lou's Short Stick to go along with it soon

at the track i let one of the guys from here feel the pro 5.0 in my bird, and he said it was ever shorter then his ripper (stock throw).. if you get the lou short stick.. ud be really small..
I would say go w/ the Pro 5.0 and getting Lou's Short Stick for another $40 if you have it. I got mine rom thunderracing. Make sure you tell the mit's for a 5 spd...they should give you the shifter for the 3rd gen 5 spd. Good luck!
hurst checking in ... paid like 175 from jegs I think, I have had it for about 8 months and am fairly happy. it definitley breaks in and becomes less stiff but it is still very sure when shifting.. have heard a number of people with the ripper say it never loosens up.. though there seems to be quite a following of new pro 5.0 guys.. I think they had just come out with it when I got my hurst.. not exactly sure... anyway that's a little more info for ya..

I personally like my shifter still being "stiff". I like it when a shifter is very firm, not all shakey, and jicky like. But having drivien cars with the ripper, 5.0, and Hurst....I'll say I could hardly tell any difference, they are all good. But Lou's short stick was very nice to have on the 5.0 and Hurst...Wish I could get it on my Ripper.

Hmmmm... so you can't get the lou's on a regular ripper... only the 5.0 huh? Well, that helps some. And it sounds like the Hurst and the B&M are the same other than that. Now I just hope that I can still get it. I have to repaint my front end... I was involved in a hit and run in a parking lot. Someone mashed in my front end and now the paint is flaking off.

Is that the Hurst that will allow you to use Lou's? I can't seem to find the B&M 5.0 on the jegs site. *Sigh*. I miss being able to walk into a store, tell them what you want, and leave with it. Now it is so hard (but you get more options I suppose). Thanks for helping me out again guys.
