  • What gears do I have?

I know what you're gonna say..... "do a search" I did a search AND checked for codes in the car. There are no codes on the door and none in the glove compartment. My car doesn't have the Y87 package, but it came with the torsen LSD. Any ideas?

    Is it auto or manual?
And if you have no codes how do you know it has LSD?

It is an auto, and I still have the price sticker for the car. The LSD was listed in the options.

Well auto's were supposd to come with 3.08's. Mine came with 3.42's and is NOT a Y87.
I would imagine you probably have 3.42's seeing as how it came with LSD. It MIGHT not...but PROBABLY does.
I believe you can run the vin # and check it out

Well I'm pretty sure you can call a local dealership and they will check it out for you.
I THINK gm has that feature on their site somewhere (I was told they did but never looked for myself)

Pull the diff cover, and count teeth. As a bonus you get to change your diff fluid in the process!

No thanks. I already changed it. And at $12 a quart for Lucas synthetic gear oil, I'm definitely not doing it again just to count the teeth haha

Counting the teeth really is quite the hassle

if your car is auto and u got lsd then u have 3.42's, because the lsd is a 3series carrier and the 3.08's use a 2series

Well, the Haynes manual recommends every 30K, but you'll hear a hundred different opinions on this. It just depends on how hard you drive your car, if you race it on the weekends, etc.
