Ok, I know this has been debated before, so thats not what I'm posting about. I did a search on how to remove the speed limiter and didn't come up with much after hours of reading. Maybe I'm just not in the right spot. I've got a 3.8 manual 5spd, that I'm putting a rear with 4.10 gears into. Supposedly, I'm going to have to remove the speed limiter because my top speed will be reached by the computer while my car is actually not yet near my top speed. I don't plan on taking the car to the track anytime soon, but I just want to make sure I can drive on the highway with these gears at like 90 and not be bouncing off the limiter. Any help would be appreciated.

yeeesh...i would not recommend 4.10s at all if its a daily driver where you do any considerable amount of highway driving...otherwise..like Little G ...rock on! ...a dealer should be able to recalibrate your computer for the gear change...thats how im having mine changed
a dealer will not be able to re-calibrate for 4.11's since they were never offered as a stock option. good luck getting them to do it for 3.42's which were.
Best option would be using the HPTuners software, either purchasing it or going through www.texas-speed.com

I'm just gonna see a drop in gas mileage right? But if i'm cruising at a little more open throttle to obtain the same speed, i'm gonna just drop like 3-5 mpg or so. So I'd normally do like 80 on the highway, now i'll do 70 to make up for it....sounds logical right? the whole objective is to keep the throttle the same position as it was before the gear change. I want to launch!!!! haha

You must be reading the wrong forum, because that's been talked about alot. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to search and find the answer. ;)

You won't necessarily lose any milage. I know plenty of people who have actually gained milage with a gear swap to a numerically higher gear. If the gear swap will put your engine closer to peak torque for most of your driving, then you may actually see an increase in milage. The engine will operate most efficiently when it's producing peak torque.
That hptuners suite thing looks hot. That'll allow me to change the speed limiter and all? My car is a 94, but the engine, computer and drivetrain are gonna be 97. The hptuners thing says its for obdII cars, are all the 93-97's obdII? See, i don't even have the car here yet, i'm getting it tomorrow, so i don't remember whether i saw the connections or not. I just don't want you thinking, "why won't this loser just look for the connector?"...haha. Yeah, so if you guys could help me out, that'd be sweet. Thanks.

Sorry about not searching enough. Maybe I wasn't in the right forum. I apologize. I hope you'll find it in your heart to forgive me. I couldn't live knowing you were upset with me....haha...I'm just kiddin man, i'm sorry, I'll search a lil more next time. Take care.

Thanks man, So what your saying is i have to pull the obdII connector with the harness and computer from my donor car (1997)? Or does my 94 already have it that I can just tap into?

Is it a reallllll b***h to get the connector and everything out of the car? Or is it just cliping a few straps and pull-ties and yanking it out? Like, how spiderwebbed is it into the dash? Are there a lot of connectors that I can just disconnect and then hook up everything to my 94?
