OK, here's the problem. I installed an aluminum driveshaft about 2 weeks ago and it worked flawlessly. Now, though, whenever I'm racing and shift at high rpm's my car makes a banging noise coming from the trans and my tires don't scratch so much anymore, it sounds and feels like they're hopping. This happens from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. And its a 5-speed. Any ideas on the problem?

agreed this belongs in general tech, but i'll respond here before it gets moved...
quick diag of trans mount:
apply parking brake, put in 1st gear rev to about 2000 rpms and drop clutch. hear clunk? now shift into reverse and do same thing. hear clunk? make sure nobody is near vehicle during this test, and that you have plenty of room in case the vehicle decides to move unexpectedly.
if you hear clunking noise in 1st and reverse, get under vehicle and check u-joints. also look at trans mount. if its making this much noise you should either feel really loose u-joints or you should see the rubber on the mount either cracked or completely separated from the metal.

My car did the same thing. Clunking under hard acceleration and you could feel something hitting the bottom of the car. IT would clunk going over bumps too. Replaced the tranny mount and it was all good.Mods include: SLP CAI, 2.5\" Dynomax catback exhaust, Bosch Platinum spark plugs, Taylor 8mm Spiro ignition wires, Eibach Prokit springs
