• Transmission warranty question

I did a search but couldnt really find much info and also couldnt seem to pull much up when I looked through the owners manual. I know we have the 36,000/3 year drive train warranty. But what exactly is that good for? what does it cover and what does it not cover? My car has been shifting pretty rough lately, almost like a synchro is shot, and was wondering if this was something warranty would fix.

does it happen when you drive around for a long period of time or drive it hard.. then when you accelerate from stop and ease into 2nd gear it like shifts really hard like you have a shift kit in it?

well its drives like it all the time, cold or warm. Also the shifter seems to move a lot when I'm driving and moves up and down when I let off the gas, and when I shift into all the gears its not a smooth engagement, it kind of clunks in there if you know what I mean, kind of hard to describe it. I don't think the clutch is slipping, I think it might be something along the lines of synchros or what not. What ever it is I really really hope it is a warrantied fix. Thats why I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly what GM does and doesn't cover.

That's a warranty covered item. Go to your dealer.

The things that are NOT covered by your warranty include:

1. Failures that are a direct result of a modification (you put a shift kit in and your tranny starts acting up, you swap gears and your factory differential blows out, etc.)

2. "Normal wear and tear" like light bulbs and tires

Ok I took my car in today to have it checked, but was surprised when I got a call saying it was fine. Normally I would be happy about this, but I'm still kind of worried about it thinking maybe they didn't look too hard to find anything. They said the vibrations where normal and that the mount was fine. And said they could not "duplicate" the gear clash going into each gear or the overall sloppy feeling it has, but if the vibrations are normal, why weren't they there when I first bought the car and why are they continuously getting worse. Iv heard when the shifter moves up and down while getting on and off the gas is a sign of a bad tranny mount, but they seem to think its fine.
What do you guys think could be the problem? I'm taking it to be checked by another shop tomorrow just to make sure, because if theres a problem it would be nice to have it taken care of before warranty is up.
Also, could this be a possible sign of the clutch going out?

Heres a pic of the transmission mount. I'm not sure what it would look like if it was shot so i figured id post a pic

i have the semi hard 1->2 gear shifts that I know are gonna require dealership intervention via my warranty. I wonder how I could sway them to show that the shift kit has been there the whole time .

I did buy the car with 62k miles, now it has 75k.. think I can get away with it? Or will they uninstall the kit?

Sorry for the whoring

unistall the shift kit, companies use whatever they can to avoid paying a warranty claim. Wouldn't surprise me if they contended fixing a tranny becasue you have a K&N filter...

Make your car as stock as possible, when they ask... do you have any aftermarket modifications? Look puzzled and say "people actually race v6s?"

if you are in the 3 year 36,000 mile thing, I woudl claim everythign agaisnt them, they reladced a trashed master and slave cylinder, clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing because of my shanigans.

So you have a shift kit....but don't like the hard shifts....I'm confused. Thats what the shift kit is for.

so I'd have to pay to uninstall that thing to get it fixed?
