  • Possibilities for an aluminum flywheel for a 3.4L...

I have great news. I have been talking with David Norton at spec and he is willing to drill an aluminum 3800 flywheel with the 6 bolt pattern for the 3.4L crankshaft. So anyone with a 3.4L who wants an aluminum flywheel would be able to get one. As it stands right now, I will be getting the customized flywheel and 3800 clutch kit to use on my 3.4L. The bolt pattern is different between the 3800 and 3.4L pressure plates as is the clamping pressure. The clamping pressure for the 3800 is stronger than the 3.4L which will help to reduce any slippage. The spline count and inner diameter of the disc are the same so the input to the trans will not be a problem. The downside to this is that anyone who would want to convert to this setup would also have to by the clutch set even if they already had one. Best case scenario is that they just go the extra step and make 3.4L flywheel altogether. So if you're interested, please email David Norton at sales@specclutch.com and please mention David Norton and 3.4L aluminum flywheel in the subject.
    Thanks,
    Jim
