  • My $.02 about the SPEC III

    What a ride. That thing is unrelenting.

    Installation was easy, just like anyother clutch. Look it up in a service manual if you are curious.

    I had no idea how it operated differently from other clutches. When you start to release the clutch pedal, it does nothing. The clutch doesn't even start to engage untill the pedal is 90% away from the floor. Then it grabs hard. It is taking a lot of practice to get proficient at daily driving it.

    The first 100 miles on it were hell. Every launch was a gut rattling sensation. It chattered like hell, and by chatter I mean it violently vibrated the car.

    After that it mellowed out quite a bit. I am now at 250 miles, and it is more tame, but still very grippy. On my stock clutch I would launch out of a stop light(normal driving, not racing) at about 1400rpm. With the SPEC III I have to launch at about 2000rpm to keep from severly bogging or stalling the engine.

    Glad it's doing its job:) Mine took about a solid 500 or so miles until it finally eased up some. Even now though, it's a complete different way of driving it to keep from chattering. But I love the way it grips on the spray!!!!

      It is taking all of my will power not to do a huge smoky burnout at everystoplight. I want to try to adhere to the entire recomended breakin period.

      Of course the first thing I did when I got it in was light up the rear tires. I am sure that wasn't good for it.

        spec = the shiznit

        i love my stage 2.. its pretty muc hteh same way.. it dosent "really" engage till the very top.. well it does a little with the stage two before that last 90%..

        but man.. it makes it sweet when you are running the car hard and really want to dump it..

        cause its like you shift.. and then just DUMP that mofo with not regrets.. and it just hooks every time..

        honestly.. the only thing i regret about getting the stage 2.. is that i shuld have got a 3..

        jsut for the record.. stage two is just as easy to use as the stocker.. it grabs harder.. and dosent chatter..

          I also agree with the above and HIGHLY recommend the SPEC clutch sets.

                    I got it from onequickv6 at texas speed and performance. It was $424 shipped to my door... I think.

                    I installed it myself, for free.
