• Sluggish 3rd gear!

I've ran my car a few times and have only been able to get a trap speed of 81mph. I don't know why but my car is strong all the way up to 3rd gear (70mph) then it takes forever to even hit the 81mph mark. I mean it seems like it crawls. Whenever I race somone I usually beat them up to 3rd gear, after that they catch up and pull. Would headers and larger piping help (I pipe)? What else do I need? Thanks!

what rpm range are you in when you start slowing, 3.4's suck above 4500, which you probably know. an 81 isnt that bad for your mods.

That is funny, with my 3.8 automatic I feel like 1st gear is slugish but once it kicks into 2 or 3 I am off

I think 3rd gear in my '98 M5 is great. The car really takes off in 3rd.

In our 3.8L I think 3rd gear defines the run and you can really feel it making up ground as it runs through the RPM range.

But, that doesnt help you with your 3.4L.

What gear ratio you running? May consider lowering the ratio w/ new ring gear and pinion.

yea the V6s die in 3rd. Hell I can pull a 1/8 of 70-71 in 9.6 sec. Then it takes a whole 5.6sec to hit 88. What a snail! Only the bottle will fix this!

Mine hauls through 1st like a crotch rocket :D and then 2nd in decent. 3rd is bad!

You but most of you have 3.8's, more power - it seems not to be a problem with you all. ( Any advice still for my little 3.4?
