• Do I have a limited-slip rear diff??

My car didn't come w/the Y87 package, but it did come w/3.42 gears as a no cost option. I've gotten the impression from some of the previous posts on this board that the 3.42 gearset has a limited-slip setup. Is this true?? Just curious...

Mine came with 342s and no limited slip, although its "on the way" since I ordered it last week.

Check your door codes, GU6 = gears, G80 = LSD.

go peel out and see if you leave 1 skidmark or 2

You must to a brake/hold burnout for this to be valid.

If your car had a limited slip, then the sticker should have said this: "LIMITED SLIP TORSEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL NO CHARGE" like mine did. If it said 3.42 at no charge, then you shouldn't. Look for G80 though, that'll be the easiest way to tell.

All good ideas, but you could also:
1. Get a floor jack
2. put it under the differential housing
3. jack up the car enough so both tires are off the ground
4. spin one wheel. If you spin forward, and the other spins backward, you have an open diff. If both wheels spin the same direction, you have a LSD
