ok i had a auburn posi lock differential installed last wensday along with richmod 3.73 gears. I also have 18" rims with 35 series tires so my speedomter and everything else was off before the gears....anyways im not too impressed with the gears going from my 3.08's but i was told its because i didnt have it tuned yet...when i get it tuned will i notice more of a difference?? if so how is it going to change my rpm's from right now to after the tune?

You will not notice much of a difference after it is tuned.
Really you will only notice the speedometer is correct, and it will shift properly...but it wont be much of a difference.

I was a little dissapointed when I put my 4.10's in going from 3.42's as well.

I was dissapointed with my gear change (3.23 to 3.73) until I went to the track and dropped my 60' from a 2.4 to a 2.0. Seriously I thought I would be able to feel it more, but the track #'s told me they're workin.

it's such a suddle change your not going to really feel it unless you really jump gears high. i didin't, but you will see it in your 1/4 mile. your going to want to get that tuned cause you don't know what your driving speeds are right now. and no a tune won't make it feel different.

i noticed a nice gain when i did mine, but the real test like stated above, is 60ft and 1/4 mile times. also those 18s are gonna slow u down jsut a lil bit too. get it tuned, it will help correct the speedo and odometer, also wont wear on ur tranny to much. without it the car shifts a lil off, which can lead to shortened tranny life

you dont need to have your car tuned because of a gear swap, good lord

yeah, the speedo would need recalibration, but if you're getting a programmer and it does both, do it, but tuning the car is completely uneeded

How much faster do you think he could go in the 1/4 mile jumping from the 3.08's to the 3.73's?

why dont you go and do some real mods before you worry about stuff like that

(something substantial enough to require a change in your fuel and timing maps)

even stock cars can gain a good amount of drivability & power from a tune and many of the tuners offer free or next to free updates for changes you make.

As far as gains with gears it really depends on the car & the combo...some may gain a tenth others may gain 1/2 second like you said but it depends on how far off the combo was in the first place.

so why didnt you say that.....instead of intake and exhaust?
