driving home from a phillies game today and my clutch randomly went on me. wierdest thing ever. i had some issues with it not going into gear well while i was driving there but the clutch felt fine so i figured i was low on transmission fluid or something. well driving home i just hear this metal scraping metal noise and felt that my clutch had nothing left to it and i was 45 minutes from home in traffic. power shifted as much as i could to avoid using the clutch and was able to limp it home. anyway im ordering a SPEC stage 2 clutch tomorrow and will put it in next week when i get home from vacation. just recently did the clutch on my S-10 so i know what im doing but are there any little hiddle things to changing the clutch on my camaro such as tricks to getting the transmission out or anything like that? just like to know what im getting myself into so im not too suprised when im doing it. i have a broken wrist in a cast right now too so this should be interesting. haha

Re: clutch
You'll need to remove the bellhousing bolts, slide the trans out about 6", then remove the slave cylinder right inside the housing in order to take the trans out completely. **If the slave is still intact, the trans won't come out.**sigpic

Re: clutch
You can pull the tranny with teh bellhousing fully intake.
1st, I assume you got the top bolts...
2nd... get prybars on te tranny and pry it loose. as you pry it lower it on the jack little by little as you pry it loose. There is a tight clearance between the top of the bellhousing and the frame of the body, you need to lower as you pull but no lower too much because you start to bind on the input shaft.-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

Re: clutch
i was planning on it but when i took everything apart you could tell the grinding happened on the pressure plate. the flywheel was fine. i took it to get resurfaced to get some high spots removed but it was in really decent condition.'99 Camaro Y87 M5 T-tops

Re: clutch
ok so back from vacation and put everything together. its all bolted up good to go. i get my friends vacuum bleeder to bleed the clutch line and after steady stream of fluid was coming out i checked the pedal....nothing. theres good pressure for a couple inches and then it just falls to the floor and sticks. give it just a little pull and it flings back into position like theres nothing wrong? what is going on here? is my master cylinder shot? the line is completely bled and the pedal [ressure it good for a little bit and then it just falls to the ground. please someone help i dont wanna have it towed to a shop.'99 Camaro Y87 M5 T-tops

Re: clutch
My borther's B2000 pick-up did about the same thinh as yours. You would hold the clutch for about 10 seconds and it would engage by itself. We changed the clutch and slave at the same time but nothing worked. Then we changes the master and all was good. So you might want to start with that. It's just my opinion on a different car but that might be the problem.Got rice?

Re: clutch
could be one of 2 things, still needs to be bled more, or your slave is dead. when my slave went it was all at once, swapped it out and it took almost an hour of pumping and bleeding to get all the air out. I had my girlfriend on the top of the car and me underneath.
you have to pump it about 20 times, hold, bleed, tighen the bolt, raise the petal with your hands, then repeat the process, do this about 20 or so times and you might have all of the air out, yeah it's a pain.-Brad

I gravity bled my clutch but my dumb A$$ let all the fluid bleed out.. Your suppose to flush the old fluid out but keep adding fluid.. you dont want to run it dry.. Its bad for the seals.. I did.. I swear I had to pump my clutch pedal 300-400 times before it felt normal.. maybe thats all you have to do??Jeff ..
