ok, sorry if this is in a stickey or can be found with a easy search but i dont have alot of time:D going to the junkyard tomarrow there is about 50 here in vegas. looking for a rear end that has disc brakes for my 97 camaro. could anyone give me a quick lowdown on what i need to look for, that would just bolt right up, looking for disc brakes and lsd anything else and i'm clueless (gears and stuff like that) please help because there is no way i'm going if you don't. thank you all, you guys are great
I own a 96 Camaro, and I installed a 95 TransAm rear in it with no probs at all, and did it myself within the afternoon. I know that a 95-97 Disk Rear will bolt up without any modification whatsoever. I'd look for a posi disk setup from 95 thru 97.
~*Just make SURE you get the Emergency Brake Cables with it!*~
The cables on your drum rear will not be compatible with the disk rear.
Inspect the rotors and calipers. If the rotors are severly rusted, replace them! If the calipers look beat, have them rebuilt. Also remove the differential cover and inspect the gears. Turn the axles and look for any looseness or broken teeth. Once you buy the rear, change the fluid WITH the posi additive that GM Dealers sell. I believe that Autozone sells it too.
hockeyman, thanks for the quick reply and good info, really helps me out alot.
by the way, you a hockey fan?? a flyers fan perhaps??? me?? oh i love my avs:D
Yes, I'm a HUGE Flyers Fan. They are playing like sh*t lately though and I don't think they will be going to far in the post season if they keep it up. I also like the Bruins, I've been a fan for many of years too.
My favorite matchups with the Avs is when they play the Redwings or the Sharks. Always good scoring and fights during those! I have the Hockey Package with my Comcast Digital Cable and I can watch hockey games all across the US and Canada.
cool, yes you are a lucky man, since i dont live close to denver anymore i dont get fox sports rocky mountian, means no avs games, just phoenix
games yuck.. god i dont know why vegas gets fox sports arizona for, at least give us fox sports calif or whatever its called, i guess if i dont even know what its called i cant bitxxx too much
now about them flyers, you know besides there coach (ex stars coach) and getting rid of roenick, oh and peter the great, i kinda like them, i will say been watching hockey since 80, you know since the mircle. the flyers are gonna get the cup sooner or later ...my thought, sooner than later. before my avs will get another thats for sure:cry: not dissin your coach but you know 2 game seven losses to his team, two years in a row, just one little game away from the stanley cup series, well i think im getting ill. they would have beat buffalo too...maybe, i really like new jersey too except when they played colorado for the cup. i guess you have issues with the devils:p about detroit of course i hate them (only out of respect) i'm not your typical colorado fan, hate the way we act sometimes. like wearing t-shirts behind the wings bench saying detroit sucks, when they were just completeing the best season in hockey history, man that was embarrsing almost as much so as my spelling, well i could go on but im gonna get moved to lounge if i do, good luck in the playoffs i hope forsberg can help you guys
