I'm wondering how well will my 3.4 pull with 2.73's or 3.23 compared to the stock 3.42's. Anyone have any ideas? This is also for the sake of gas milage cause of these damn gas prices!

3.4Ls alll came with 3.23s unless oyur car is freakish...

it woudl pull ALOT slower with 2.73s... imo keep it where its at. The cost of the swap wouldn't save you enough money. Besides, you woul problby lose mpg in the sitting by having to get on the gas more, to get around, but you woudl save gas on the highway.

yah, dont "underpower" your car, you'll lose mpg

for example: a PT cruiser gets worse mpg than a PT GT turbo with more power

also when people put large tires on 4x4s, they start losing considerable mileage, a swap to lower gears will gain some back

did your car come stock with 3.42s? i didnt think any 3.4s did, we just put 3.42s in my girlfriends camaro yesterday

I think it has 3.42 gears, I found this web page thats a chart for gear ratios and how speed and rpm's change for our cars. http://www.f-body.org/gears/

My camaro is an A4, and at 64mph it runs at just a hair under 2000rpm. I do alot of highway and country back roads driving and not much city driving. I'm averaging just over 20mpg and I was thinking maybe its the gears I have. My brother used to have a 95 z28 A4 with 2.73 gears, and it got way better gas milage than my v6.
