  • Tranny Swap?????

I have a 96 Camaro V6 with the 5-Speed. Would I be able to do a t56 6-speed transmission swap??? I've always wanted a 6-speed and tried to get my girlfriend to buy a Tiburon just so I could drive it!!!

    Could use the info...

    Thanks!!

goign to take about 3500 and a lot of work for you to install it, or about 5000 for a shop to it

What is included in the 3500??? besides the tranny itself, I can get one from a friend for cheap, and I don't mind the work...

I also have a guy that can help with any body work (welding etc.) So is it a fitment issue, or is mounting to the engine and driveshaft length the issue???

        Re: Tranny Swap?????

        1. you need a custom adapter plate to bolt the tranny to the motor

        2. the adpter plate moves the tranny back and so you have to shorten the Dirve shaft to fit

        3. the input shaft is different so you will need a custom lenth input shaft made for the tranny

        4. cause the tranny is back farther the shifter will also move back so you have to get a custom center console; so you can still shift the tranny.

        5. you will need a custom cross member to bolt it too

        6 all this = $$$$$$$$$$$$$

would I be able to use a crossmember from an SS or a Ws6, and then basically the only purchases I would need would be an input shaft and driveshaft and adapter plate, and also, what kind of shop would be able to do the input shaft and adapter plate for me? would I have to bring a design to a machine shop, or will most custom car shops have the capacity to do it for me?
