ok so i just changed my clutch out. replaced the slave cylinder and tried bleeding the clutch. now when you press the clutch pedal it has pressure for about 2 inches and then is sucked straight down to the floor. put your fingers behing it and give a little pull and it flies right back up. i was just out bleeding it for an hour and no change. im pumping the pedal about 20 times, holding the pedal down, opening the bleeder, closing the bleeder, releasing the clutch. the thing is there is no air coming out of the bleeder when i open it. its a steady stream of fluid. now the only thing im wondering is that i didnt bench bleed the slave cylinder well enough. is there a way i can force fluid in to the slave cylinder and open up the bleeder and bleed the slave cylinder seperately and then hook up the line and try bleeding the entire thing?

ok well ill try changing out the master cylinder before i get it towed somewhere. now i remember reading your post about this a few months back and you mentioned that you got yours from the dealer because it comes with the braided line attached. why did you do that? is it hard to de-tach it and re-attach it the new master? how much is it from the dealer as opposed to somewher like autozone?'99 Camaro Y87 M5 T-tops

Before paying for a new part, I would try bleeding the clutch line more. It can take a very long time for the pedal to get feeling back, and make sure you keep it topped off with fluid while you're doing it.Old Car = 12.679 @ 106.5 on 150 dry shot.

best thing to do is press and hold it for about 20-30 seconds, then let it up. you will notice pressure pretty quickly.
but you have pressure and then are loosing it, so it doesnt seem like bleeding it is ur problem. if it needed bled more it would have a little pressure at the end not the beginning.<a href=\"http://cardomain.com/id/articacid\" target=\"_blank\">2002 35th Anniv. i bled the hell out of it the first night and again last night. bleeding does not seem to be my issue. i remember when i chenged the clutch in my truck. when i was bleeding it you would press down the pedal and the only pressure was the pressure of the fluid and then it slowly built up once it started engaging the pressure plate and everything. its not the same with my camaro. with the camaro it just drops right to the floor but has good pressure for a few inches and once its stuck on the floor just give it a little flick and it will pop right up. plus when i was bleeding it for 45 minutes it was nothing but fluid. not one little hiss of air came out in 45 minutes of bleeding it and i kept the fluid topped off in the resevoir. i know the master will be a PITA but i really think that it may be my problem.'99 Camaro Y87 M5 T-tops

i have delt w that same problem for the last 2 years. its not the mastercylinder at all trust me i put 3 in and it didnt change much. what your problem is is that the hydrolic line 4 the clutch runs too close to the exhaust which causes the fluid in the line to break down, so that you get air in the line again and again. so heres what you NEED to do to fix ur problem.go under your car and locate the transmissin bleeder (brass hex head looking thing) on the drivers side of the transmission, drain ALL of the fluid out and trash it ( probably going to look black and cloudy) then hook up a Mityvac in the resivoir in the engine compartment, connect a tight fitting hose to the bleeder and put the other end in a bottle of synthetic brake fluid. then use the vac to suck the new stuff through the system (so the new stuff gets drawn up through the bleeder and up into the resivoir in the engine compartment), and bleed all the remaining air out of the system. finally buy a piece of silicone hi temp hose, slice it down the side and put it over the line and push the line as far away from the exhaust as possible. that will do it.
if you let the problem go too long or use too high of vaccum to bleed it you will have to replace the slave cylinder in the tranny as well, because the high vaccum will cause it to let go.

alright well i went to autozone today and bought a mityvac to try bleeding my cluctch. worked perfectly. took me about 30 minutes of pumping my cltuch since it was so bad, but it just took out air bubble after air bubble. the little pump works like a charm. dropped it off the jackstands and works perfectly. thanks to everyone who helped me out through this. i appreciate it.
on a side note does anyone know where i can get a replacement for the light gray shift boot that is right about the transmission. mine broke and there is a lot of road noise coming through so i just want to replace it.'99 Camaro Y87 M5 T-tops
