  • Rear axle failures: lookin for info.

    Hello Forum Members-
How many out there have experienced rear axle failure where you loose one or more bearings--either axle, carrier or pinion--but not have the gears fail?

Well currently I think my carrier bearing or ring bearing is going out and she still runs. It makes a horrible wobbling sound at cruising speeds yeah yeah I know I need to fix it soon but have no choice right now. Im just gonna replace the whole axle at this point...

i would think changing an axle is easy. I dont rember the axle itself having a bearing. I know theres 2 bearings on each side of the carrier/differential.
axle swap: drop the rear-end pan. pull the c-clip. optional: remove wheel. slide axle out.
