Hey everybody. Just found this site, so I thought I would ask a question of something that has been bothering me. I have a 95 Camaro, 3.4, 5 speed. I bought the car with the trans messed up. I put a used 5speed and new clutch,pp and tob, on the car. I reinstalled the trans. My slave cylinder was bad so I bought the complete set up from gm, the slave, master, and the resevoir already pre bleed. Now to my problem, to get the car into gear or to shift you have to pump the clutch pedal. It will not downshift at all. I have been back to gm and they won't exchange the slave-master set up I bought, they told me to bleed it. I have done this by their book specs at least 4 times. There are no bleeder screws as you know. I also have tried a mita-vac through the reservoir but I still have the same problem. I guess if I would get out and drive it, it might wear the clutch some and help shifting. I just can't stand to drive it the way it is. I am open for suggestions. I have been working on cars for 20 years, and I know what a clutch is supposed to feel like when you change it. I guess that is technology for you. I am new to the 4th gen camaros/firebirds, so I need some help. Thanks in advance.

Re: New to this site with tranny problems
usaully bleeding helps, you do have to bleed the hell out of it though. are you sure you didnt damage the master cylinder putting it in some how? when i changed my master, i bleed it and had the same problem, pumped the hell out of the pedal and took it around the block. bleed it some more, pumped the pedal a few times and now its fine. hopefully someone else will come in and have an other idea.1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.

You've got to bleed the snot out of these guys. A Search will show you some of the stories of members going through X volume of fluid trying to get bubbles out.Drivetrain Moderator - "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!"
