    what do it weigh? I'm bout to buy a tranny jack.

    just to give you an idea....
    i had a T-5 shipped to me and with a cardboard box, 2 pieces of wood, and some paper wadded up, and the transmission too, the shipping total was 101.5 pounds

      T-5 is about 80#

      A4 is about 115 and most of the wieght is in the front

            oddly enough the t5 I did myself came out and went in easier then when I had help.

            And the help both times were very competent people.

              80 or 115 is not very much at all
              but when its such a huge piece of mass it makes it feel like more.
              it would be harder to control than a bar, plus being cramped up underneath
              sucks
              I think i will get the jack

                Its a pain... I just did it with a craftsman floor jack.

                It did help, that I ran a rope from my T-bar on my t-tops through the hole for the shifter and tied it tothe tail of my tranny.


                Made it easier to reposition on my jack and get it to line up.
