So I'm about to start hitting up the track after I finish up dyno tunning this weekend and I'm wondering if I need to worry about breaking my axles since I'll be putting down close to 400+HP on the stock rear end and tranny. I have drums and if something breaks I really don't want the axle to come flying out.

Re: Chances of Breaking an Axle???
WELL if your worried about breaking axles dont run on slicks. is that RWHP? what kind of setup do you have NOS or FI, shotting nos off the line on slicks can break axles . ive seen 150 wetshot Z-28 with trq converter and some intake/exhaust, 3.73 rear, break a stock axle, not mush of an acomplishment for a LS1

Re: Chances of Breaking an Axle???
If your rear is completely stock, you would most likely destroy the carrier or gear before an axle....but stranger things have happened.
Good luck!

Re: Chances of Breaking an Axle???
He is running a T70 turbo setup on a built 3.4.
Yea as stated odds are that you'll destroy the rear before the axle.
at 400+ at the wheels you start getting in the territory where you need a stronger rear if you're cutting LOW 60s

Re: Chances of Breaking an Axle???
I broke 3 rear ends in my V6 and 1 so far on my 02 WS6.. 3 out of the 4 were me busting bearings.. Axle bearings, differential bearings, and pinion bearings.. And the other one I broke some teeth on the ring gear.. I was on street tires on each one.. Wheel hop off the line and bagging second gear hard on the nitrous is how I think I broke them.. just be carefull..Jeff ..
