  • Choosing A Clutch... Need Help!

Well.... I tried a search but nothing...

My car is making about 250 to the wheels and its been killing my stock clutch over time... its slipping so bad now that you no longer need to put the clutch in coming to a stop... you just leave it in gear... and its like an auto when you let off the brake it just keeps going! its terrible. :(

So its TIME for a new clutch... My dads good friends with a guy who owns a tranny/drivetrain shop and does lots of this work. No special prices... but a good guy. So the guy is going to charge me about $600(canadian) for an OEM replacement.... EVERYTHING in... parts... work...tax etc.

Or he can get the OEM clutch sent off to Eurodrive and have a kevlar material disk done instead. This option comes in @ about $950 parts, work, tax.... etc.

    So OEM for $600
    Or kevlar for $950

My dad has an 02 SS putting about 380 to the wheels... and HE has the kevlar clutch that this guy sells, in fact this guy installed it for him. And he likes the clutch alot.

So OEM? or kevlar? anyone have any opinions about them? how are they?

Any suggestions or help is great thanks!

i would spend a few extra bucks and get a spec or centerforce dual friction. i have the centerforce and i love it. i'm putting 311 to the ground.

you might be ok with a oem one. the reason why you were probably slipping is because the clutch was to worn out to start with. my stock clutch held the 311 for over a year with no slipping. and do that job your self and safe the money dude!!!!!

I got some new info... The kevlar clutch is good for 500 horse apparently. and I drove my dads SS lastnight and it has the kevlar clutch... it grabbed really nice. i liked it... and he's almost making 400 to the wheels.

Thanks kristen, i had some others reccomend the centerforce as well.

I think im going for the kevlar... my dad stands behind it and its better to think ahead incase i supercharge the car or something.
