What's up board i am new to the site. a friend told me about it so thought i should check it it. However i have a question that i need to be answer with so expertise.

i just recently bought a 98 camaro v6 3.8. i talked to few people that have camaro's about the problem doing a good burnout with the 98 3.8 and they were pretty much saying that it can NOT be done (due the traction control or ABS system). I know that i have the traction control button and all that. but i turned it off and i put the gas to the floor and hit the brakes and i got nothing but the engine reving up. my question is what do i need to do to do a GOOD burnout??? do i need to change the rear end, gears, and differential or what............. thanks for your help guys!!!!

98's dont have traction control, so i dont know what you turned off. i have a 98, and have no problem at all lighting the tires up. the only bottons i have on mine are the fog light switch, a fake botton, and the thing that says CAMARO on it above the radio. i think 99's and up got taction control. just sitting there you should be able to just put it in drive and floor it and it should spin. all i do is rev up to about 3200 RPM dump the clutch and hit the brakes alittle.

I was messing around with mine today, sat on the brakes lightley, got it up to about 1500, and than pushed the gas and let go of the brake, and I did a decent burnout, one wheel of course..... but that will soon be fixed :)

You guys are either not stepping on the gas enough or stepping on the brakes too much.
Just lightly step on the brake just enough so the front brakes lock and the car wont move and slam on the gas.

back when i had the open differential, and my 3.08's i could light them up to the point where you couldnt see my car and all you saw was the smoke blowing away from my exhaust...and that was with heavy *** 18" chromers....

the first time i tried doing a burnout it wouldnt budge...i was like wtf?? my friend got in and tried to do it and it wouldnt budge for him either...i tried it a few weeks after that and she coulda spun untill morning. just hold the brake lightly so u dont move and smash the throttle....if you press the throttle slow, its just gonna rev...hammer it and she will go :)...or just get diff. gears and spin when u dont even mean too

Go out and buy a 5-speed if you want to do good burnouts... they're easy to do completely stock.

I agree, it has to have Limited Slip or only one wheel will rip.
