i have a '98 V6 auto with Y87 package. my universal joint on the driveshaft is getting loose. it doesn't need to be replaced now, but it will eventually. i was thinking that i would just be better off to swap in a V8 driveshaft & u-joint. it looks like i can get aluminum driveshafts on ebay for $150-200.
would i see a performance increase if i put in a one of these? would it be worth it?
well i'm just thinking that as long as i need to replace the U-joint, i just as well spend a little extra and throw in a whole new driveshaft. 2 birds with 1 stone...
Everyone takes a risk when buying from ebay. If the seller says that the driveshaft is in great condition though, it normally is. Also, be sure to check their feedback ratings before you buy. That sometimes helps put your mind at ease.
I would be careful buying a DS from Ebay. Only reason I say is because I'm in the market for one and decided to just buy a brand new one for like $200.00. If the DS you get off ebay is bent your car is going to shake like HELL!!!!. Sometimes you can't even tell its bent by just looking at it. No way to tell until you get it on.
