Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
A 93-97 Camaro or T/A disk rear will fit your car without any modification issues. It's a straight bolt-on.
If you own a 93-97 car, and want to install a 98+ rear (or vise-versa), then you get into issues with the TCS.
Save yourself a heap of questions, buy a 93-97 disk rear.sigpic

Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
I just did my rearend swap and was going to do a brake swap and I couldnt do it cuz the brake lines were different. I swapped the rearend but I had to put my drums back on and I have to get new brake lines to fit for the disk brakes.sigpic

Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
I put a rear from a 2000 T/A in my 97 3.8 camaro and i was able to combine my old brake lines with the ones that came on the new axel using compression fittings to splice them together and so far they haven't shown any signs of leaking and it allowed me to use the new axels stock disks. Now the brake line has the old cars ends on one side, and the T/A's ends on the other. And i just plugged the ABS sensor into one wheel on the new axel, as the old sensor plugged into my differential (the new axel has one on each wheel). No ABS light, no leaks. So far so good. And if you go with the 98+ rear you get the zex-torsen limited slip.

Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
It is a very easy job. I got your email about that. I didnt need any other parts for the swap, it went right in. However, I broke 2 bolts for the swaybar and my new disk brakes didnt fit up cuz the backing plates were different for the brake lines. I am not exactly sure why they wouldnt fit, but my friend who is a mechanic said it wouldnt work for it. If you already have disks in the rear you will be fine or just put your drums back on.sigpic

I dont know man. The backing plates were different for mine and I dont know what they will be for yours. My new rear didnt come with new brakes, just the backing plates. If your new rear comes with brakes already on it you should be fine.sigpic

Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
if you get the whole thing, your brake line should work, there are 2 on the rearend that thread in to the car's one line, like a T
only other thing is you need the ebrake cables, but everything bolts up fine91 Mustang LX 2.3 Turbo - T5
-daily driver, 210hp/300ft-lbs (outdated)
94 Ranger Splash 2.3 Turbo - T5
-serious build up, shooting for 400+hp
95 Camaro 3.4 auto -hers
-she\'s workin on it

Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
Get a 3-channel rear and you'll be fine. Do not get a rear with individual left/right brake hoses, yours should have a single hose and single ABS sensor in the differential. Make sure you get all the parts with it including the ebrake cables.1994 Firebird 3.4
15.65 @ 86.8
funkz.net/firebird
Timeslips

Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
So in doing the swap, what kind of changes are you going to be getting. I know you get rear disk's, but how much of a change are you going to see in the way it handles and the performance of the car???

Re: Rear Drum to Disc Brake swap.HELP!
the only real performance gains will come from if you gain a better gear ratio. I went from a 3.08 to a 3.42 and it was slightly noticable, but also my speedo is off by about 10%. You also gain disk rear brakes and limited slip differential. and if you get a rear from a 98+ you get the zex and torsen limitied slip.
