Alright, so about a month ago I put in a new slave cylinder and transmission.
The slave cylinder I got was a cylinder with a spring. Cool, I thought.
When I actually opened up the existing transmission I found a cylinder exactly like the original as well as the spring (I belive it's the return spring). However, there was also a black plastic piece (with a bearing on the front side)that fit over the cylinder and sandwiched the spring into the assembly. I didn't have that plastic piece on my new slave, so I just popped it off the old slave and put it onto the new slave.
Is that black plastic piece with the bearing the Throwout Bearing?
I need to know, because I think it's what's causing my loud clutch noise. Everytime I depress the pedal I hear a sound similar to a saw cutting wood. It sounds like something is pressing on something else that is spinnning. In addition to that, when the clutch pedal not pressed, I get a sqeaking sound from the transmission, like a belt sqeak. I HAVE to find this noise, it's driving me crazy. I think it's that black piece that's my problem. Possibly I didn't put it on right? I just popped it onto the slave. Is that the correct way to do it?
