did only y87s have these or was it an option i have an 01 camaro and i was looking at the door panel and the gu6 code was on there why would this car have 3.42s its auto btw

I don't think gears were written in stone. I've heard different factory combinations.

just common to see 5spd=3.23s
and auto=3.08s

it was an option. My car also came stock with 3.42's as well and it doesnt have the Y87 package.

y87=y87 (exhaust, steering, gears/lsd)
g80=lsd
gu6=3.42 gears
