  • Transmission and tuning question

It could just be me but lately my shift points feel awkward. Like the cars take off is being weakened for some reason. at times I can drop the gas pedal and just slowly watch the rpms climb and then shifts hard (automatic tranny). By shifting hard I mean you feel it like a manual. Car noses down then pulls back up. but if I wanted to pass somebody on the street (not even the highway) it seems I cam just more less creap by them. I've had it recently brought in for new plugs/wires, clean fuel injectors.. basically the works and a all the goods that come with a tune up costing you about 1K.

I would assume that if there was something wrong with the transmission then they would have discovered it during that whole day they had the car. Then again you never know.

I do drive my car hard at times and like to go fast so could my pcm somehow adjust the shift points itself depending on how you drive?

and now my real question if I was do to sport tuning do you think this would help and fix my problem? (btw I dont' know squat about tuning

    Re: Transmission and tuning question

It could be the torque management kicking in. I think the pcm
retards the timing a few degrees before shifting in order to preserve
    the drivetrain.

Just something to think about. I'm not an expert so don't rule out
    any other possiblities.

Go to ls1tech and search for torque management. There are lots of
threads on it and it could help some.

And yes you can reduce/remove torque management with tuning.
