    Re: Auto/Manual.........your choice now?

When i was looking for my car i would not buy an auto, i only wanted the manual.

I still feel to this day that i made the right decision. I love feel of it, and the gearing advantage.

As for the m5 vs auto, yes the auto can be strong but so can the m5. nobody puts time into the m5's on our cars though, 1 person(i think his s/n is linxs) has so far and he just recently got it together i do believe. its just easier to break a stock t5 than the auto.

Any vehicle I buy must have a manual transmission, automatics are inadequate when it comes to racing (racing as in having to go around corners on a road course, not running in a straight line). Automatics are not for me, no matter what vehicle it is. Kinda funny the few times I've had to drive automatics, feels so weird and my left leg acts funny when starting off or comming to a stop.

manual manual manual. its just a better driving experience to actually drive the car and have complete control over it, i would take the t-5 any day, and hey, if i break it one day i break it, o well, **** happens, but no matter what it will be worth it...... plus if my car ever gets powerful enough to snap my transmission, then thats something to be proud of :)

I would personally rather have a 200 hp car with a manual than a 400hp car with an automatic but just my opinion. Just seems to take the sport out of the car if it shifts by itself. If I had the choice, my 95 Safari and 89 Blazer would be manual as well. My g/f's bro had a z28, and it was obviously much faster than mine, but I wouldn't trade mine for his simply because it was an automatic. The tranny is the single most important issue when I'm looking for a car. If it's automatic, I won't even look at it.

              auto
why because i think when you get around 400rwhp you and set your tranny and your rear gears so you can lay rubber at 60 mp to my thats kick ***
i will all ways go with a auto becuase of shift kits, and you can manuly shift your auto

Honestly the 4L60E can't handle that much power either, nor are they dependable as far as I'm concerned. Just today my A4 ate its own %*#@ and now it won't shift from 1-2, into OD, or into Reverse. And I rarely drive my car hard, only raced it once at the track, and have performed regular maintanence (I'm a mechanic, so its very cheap to keep up with everything). How many miles you might ask?? 50,099.... which is f'in ridiculous.

If you want to build big power you're going to have to build your transmission regardless of whether it's a T5 or an A4. Manuals are much easier to build and service. The ONLY advantages of an automatic is the ability to go with larger stalls and its consistancy at the track. But with that higher stall you lose your DD completely because its VERY annoying on the street.

It gets old after the 2nd time, then the 3rd, or the 4th... and you have school and work to get to.

I only buy manuals. autos stink. I never drove an auto that shifted at the right times. When I drive my wife's Jeep, it is always searching - drives me insane.

My commute is some traffic, some highway, and a lot of back roads. Back roads + manual =

When I purchased my car I knew it had to be a bird, black, and manual. As far as this 200hp manual or a 400hp auto, I'd take the 400hp any day,lol that would be a fun daily driver

If it's a rwd it has to be a manual for me. Heck, even if it is a fwd it has to be a manual for me. I hate automatic's, and the past 2 years, I have had no other choice to drive an auto due to an accident with my leg not being able to support letting off the gas and pressing it again to shift gears.

Autos are just boring when you are out cruising around and having fun, manual is where it's at :)

If I wanted to build my car for the dragstrip I'd go with a auto due to it being more consistant. But, I use my car for commuting and having fun on the street with the occasional strip pass. So, manual is for me. My goal is 300 WHP, so we'll see when I have to rebuild it. I always have the manual car,and my wife has the auto.
