T-5 Swap

i can get a T-5 for my camaro for $200 would it be worth it to do the swap? im doing the same with my 3rdgen T/A but i am beefing that one up since now it is behind a built 305 and will go behind a 383 but i plan on getting pretty serious into autoX and i have a lot of backroads w/ lots of turns and i would rather be going throughthe gears than it shifting up and down on its own.

ya, you are gonna have to tell us your goals/plans for the car in order for us to tell you what will work or not work

more or less its just my daily driver and i want to put it in some shows along with the t/a but im thinking just doing some tuing and intake and posibly 5spd swap. i just wanna have something fun for a daily driver unlike that civic i had (shudders)

well once i gety my tranny for my trans am and it gets back from paint if that guy stll has the t5 for the camaro ill pick it up. money is tight at the moment to go get it right away.:(

Do it, just don't drop the automatic on your chest... cuz they're kinda heavy! T5s you can pick up by yourself! Wooo weight reduction!!

v6 and v8 trannys have different bellhousings

yes the auto is much heavyer but i carried the one outa my tans am about 100 yards by myself to my shed so its not TOO heave but still a PITA.

i was not saying im using a v6 tranny on a v8 or a v8 tranny on a v6 where di you getthat idea? but i can on my thirdgen use a thirdgen v6 t-5 as long as i use a v8 bellhousing wich i have avalible. only draw back is id have to get the input shaft changed since its smaller and would die with me getting on it once rather than break after two times with the v8 t-5:) but anyway once i get the trans am painted and road wothy again ill look into the t5 swap for the camaro a lil more.
