  • DANM problem...

My tranny fluid just leaked out all over the drive way. I got under the car and replaced the tranny filter and the gasket, started up the car and it is still leaking horribly. The fluid is running from around the starter area and down the flywheel housing..WHERE can it be coming from:rant:

somebody please help....I just put my car for sale and cant be dealing with this problem for long.

I cant get a good look at where its coming from....the only place I can see it drip from is the bottom of the housing next to the little hole that is there. I took off my starter and put it back on about two weeks back, could that have ANYTHING to do with it.

No your starter removal had nothing to do with your leak.

There are two possible leak locations in that area.

          1) Torque Converter seal located in the transmission pump housing. This is where the torque converter is inserted into the transmission.

          2) Transmission pump cover seal.

To replace either one of those requires the torque converter to be removed, which in turn means that the engine has to be disconnected at the engine mounts, then moved up and forward a bit, then the transmission seperated from the engine and the drive shaft removed. This is no small task.

you need to take the whole tranny out and check the master/slave cylinder. that is probably where it could be leaking from. i just took mine out so no everything by heart. its the second time and could imagine that would be the problem

I dont know what it could be. Its too hard to tell exactly where its coming from...I only runs out when the car is running.

its either your torque converter or front pump. i dont know what the dude up there ^^^ was talking about when he said to **** with the engine but all you have to due is remove the tranny to get to it. needs to be toed to a shop unless you wanna try to fix it yourself.
