So anyone know or have an opinion on how much a new rear end would help a 3800 * rear end is from a z28 so it has posi and it has 3.73 gears* any thoughts?

Posi will give you better traction. Go for the rear end swap! :D

3.73s? That's not a stock ratio. But if that's really what they have in there, then you made a great find.

this is what ur lookin at......swap one in from a Z28, that will cost around 250, that will give u a posi unit plus 3.42 gears and it should give u a disk brake setup.

After that, u can swap in ur choice of gearing. When I got my rear end I swapped in a set of 4.10s and love every second of them. Screw 3.73s, If u wanna fly, get the 4.10s, that install will run u close to 400, so total it shouldnt be any more than 750 for a good solid rear end whereas a brand new one would run u close to 1200

            Re: rear end

For 200 is a good deal. I would jump on that in a sec. As for the 100 dollar install, I would just do it myself. its not that hard the toughest part is getting the rusted bolts off.

In terms of power gains, u actually wont gain any power but the 3.73s will allow the motor to spin the wheels a lot easier resulting in a faster car. Its kinda like riding a bike. U know how easy it is to peddle when ur in the 18th speed compared to the first speed.
